Here we tell you about how we saved a house from a badly fitted awning.
The awning market has seen considerable changes over the last 10 years. Several national retailers have pulled out altogether, citing a number of reasons, from not enough demand to profitability issues. The market has become fragmented with small building companies and blind retailers trying to fill the void. Most do a satisfactory job, but some make a complete mess of things, so it’s important to choose a company with experience, and which offers professional installation.
If you look at the picture, you’ll see the damage that can be done by poor workmanship.
The company that fitted this awning is a large London-based specialist with many years’ experience. They proceeded to fit the awning at the very top of the customer’s orangery roof, with no brackets to spread the load. The results were horrendous; the awning fell down in the middle of the night – thankfully while no one was in the garden or sat underneath. As it fell, it removed the top section of the orangery roof, causing tens of thousands of pounds worth of work to fix the flat roof, to rebuild the exterior wall, and to make good the damaged patio.
This type of situation is, thankfully, a rarity. But it’s the reason why we only use experts who know what they are dealing with. We pride ourselves on our professional installation service, and like to retain complete control over the surveying, manufacture and installation of all of our products.
