How To Make the Most of Your Awning this Autumn

Although there is definitely more of a chill in the air now and the days are getting shorter, there’s still time to make the most of your awning and enjoy some quality time in your garden with family and friends before winter fully settles in. Here we’ve outlined a few ideas to inspire you.

Dine Outside

Why not get your friends and family together for an alfresco meal under the stars; perhaps for a Haloween party or a Guy Fawkes Night feast of bangers and mash followed by marshmallows melted over the fire. Although the nights are drawing in much earlier now, a good quality awning light-bar and a few fairy lights will create a welcoming ambience under your awning from which to enjoy your gathering. And if you don’t have a fire pit to huddle round, a decent outdoor heater under your awning will keep everyone toasty warm all night.

Relax Outdoors

Make the most of those crisp and bright, blue-sky days with a good book or your favourite magazine and a hot cuppa tea. Curl up in a comfy chair under your awning and simply relax. Although it might feel cooler, there’s something quite refreshing about being outdoors at this time of year. Pop your awning outdoor heater on to take off the chill and snuggle under a blanket for some extra warmth.

Reduce Glare

The sun may be lower and the daylight hours fewer, but you can still use your awning to provide some extra shade to south-facing rooms. The sun can cause damage to carpets and furniture all year round, so use your awning to protect your home from UV damage, even in Autumn.

Create Privacy

If neighbours overlook your home from above, an awning can provide extra screening from prying eyes throughout the year. And even if you’re not out in the garden, use your awning to create some privacy for adjacent rooms during the day.

Decorate Your Awning Space

Embrace Autumn and Winter celebrations and decorate the space underneath, and surrounding your awning, to create a warm and festive ambience. Soft fairy lights, free-standing lanterns, table ornaments, pots of winter berries, textured cushions, warm blankets and an outdoor scented candle can all help to make your awning space feel cosy and welcoming. You may even fancy placing a few autumn spices and pretty carved pumpkins around your outdoor space too.
